Bookt Clothing was started in a Philadelphia correctional facility where artists were compensated for their creative abilities.
We believe some of the most creative minds are locked up for probation violations or minor infractions. Bookt Clothing aims to help these artists by sending money to their books for the essentials for jail living. Images are sent as reminders not to put yourself in a situation that could get you booked!
Our hope is to keep individuals out of the system and encourage them to use their gifts to impact their communities in a positive way.
What we do:
- Provide essentials for jail-living and recovery such as amenities and resources such as: food, soap, and clothing.
- Compensate incarcerated inmates by putting $$$ on their books in exchange for their art.
- Help recently-incarcerated people to make positive decisions about their futures.
- Focus on the creative gifts and talents of individuals to build a better society.
- Establish ongoing relationships with inmates that help them transition when they are released.
